I’m Back… And with a Connecticon 2013 report!

Hey everyone,

It has been long… too long. I am alive and well though, and still working hard with everyone else at Senpai Magazine.

We have decided to change things a little bit. The Goal of Senpai Magazine was to share our interests with others as much as possible. Right now, we feel this goal can be best reached by making as much free content as possible.
ImageRight now we are putting out a FREE newsletter called “Chibi Senpai.” Basically, it is our magazine in a very condensed format, delivered regularly to your inbox at absolutely no charge.
Additional details are here:  http://senpaimagazine.com/chibi-senpai.php

So what have I been up to lately? Well, still cannot fully grasp Tumblr… It just seems like a collection of very messy blogs. I’ve also been playing a lot of Warframe… too much really. Read more…

Furry Senpai’s Furry 101

Hi everyone,

Just a quick rant today…

Senpai-Me hard at work.. drawing by my friend Kristeva.

If you’ve been following my blog at all, or picked up an issue of Senpai Magazine, you know there’s much more to me than just being “furry.” I cross over into A LOT of different fandoms, including anime, gaming, comics, scifi, tabletop gaming, pro-wrestling, paranormal studies, and so on. That being said, I am friends with a lot of people that are not “furry” at all. In fact, some are even aghast and horrified when I freely admit to it, as if it is something weird and shameful. Other people, such as nonfurry vendors & artists heading to their first furry con, will often ask me what to expect. Also, I still get long-time friends asking me what this “furry-thing” is all about. Read more…

And I’m back!

I really do not know where to begin, there is so much to discuss, detail, and dissect from last weekend. I guess I’ll start with how I usually start most of my blogs, by starting with the positive: Read more…

“PawPrints” – Furry Senpai’s Comic Pulls for June 20, 2012

June 23, 2012 1 comment

Hi everyone,

Here’s a recap of my pickups for this week: Birds of Prey #10, Glory #27, and Astonishing X-Men #51 .  Remember, my rating does not necessarily reflect the comic’s quality (although that is taken into consideration) but rather it’s a gauge of my overall interest in the story being told.

5 = Excellent thus far, and will definitely pick up the next issue if/when available.

4 = Pretty good, the series has got my complete interest. Recommend staying with this series.

3 = If I see the next issue on shelves, I might give it  thumb-through. I’m Mildly interested.

2 = Has some good points but I didn’t find the story too interesting/I feel nothing for the characters.

1 = I wasted my money!

0 = I will BURN every copy I find!!!

Also, I am always careful to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

So let’s get to it!

Birds of Prey #10

Plenty of action in this issue, but not much else. Here the Birds of Prey are deep in the Amazon, fighting plant monsters, as they continue their quest to rejuvenate their fallen comrade, Poison Ivy. There’s nothing really wrong with this book, but it feels like TPB filler. Oh, and Black Canary can fly over short distances using her Sonic Scream. I didn’t know she could do that… Read more…

So let’s get to it!

Batman and Robin #10

Easily, this was my highlight of the week. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Boy Wonder, no matter who was wearing the green tights. Here, they all come together under Damian Wayne’s challenge to see who is the “Best Robin.” I absolutely love the idea that’s presented in this book of the role of “Robin” being a kind of brotherhood and legacy. Each Robin, Grayson, Todd (oh yes, him t00), Drake, and Wayne all take the honor of the title very seriously, so much so that they’re willing to beat each other to a pulp to preserve it! Read more…

So let’s get to it! It was a really great week in comics.

The Li’l Depressed Boy #11

The story of everyone’s favorite downtrodden rag-doll underdog continues as he takes on one of the most grueling, sadistic, and depressingly horrible jobs ever to be concocted: Ushering in a movie theater. It is second in awfulness only to working the concession stand, trust me, I’ve been there… Read more…

Prophet #25

I really want to like this comic, I really do. However, and I will sound like a broken-record here, I still have no idea what is going on. This is pretty bad when you recall that I’m the one who defended and can make sense of the Ultimate Warrior comics. Read more…
